Aug 4, 2017 · All characters that had completed the Deal with the Bandits quest in Act 2 Normal now have the Eramir reward of 2 passive skill points. All bandit rewards from Cruel and Merciless no longer exist. Players who want to change their bandit reward choice have a one-time-only option to change it by talking to Eramir and taking one of his books. In a much older version of the game, the bandits gave the same life/mana/resist reward in all the game difficulties. That's probably what you saw. If this is your first character, then you should be building for the basic life setup, in which case take Oak in Normal.

You can probably gain 2-3 skill points in the end by taking the 40 HP and passing up up an HP node or two in the skill tree. Also, that 40HP makes all your +HP% nodes in the tree worth that much more.
